It’s a good thing I purchased the unlimited Metro card because I used the subway almost every hour today. I visited 5 restaurants and had a few on the spot interviews which were great but they seemed to end when I told them I was in school and did not have completely open availability. It’s just day one and I know the perfect one is out there, your loss!
It was fun to be out and about, becoming familiar with things. I shared a laugh with some New Yorkers while sitting on the subway when a large rat walked by the open doors. Mice I can handle but I better not find anything of that size in my apartment.
I was also reminded of the movie, ”Pay It Forward” when a man offered to help me while I was checking out the subway map and then I later helped a lady who fell down the stairs. See, there are nice people in the city.
Between interviews and introductions I checked out Greenwich Village. I liked the old walkups and grungy, young vibe. Lots of what looked like “privileged” Jewish NYU students ha. Below, looking down Grove St. is a small park I would have enjoyed if it wasn’t rainy and cold.
My last stop this evening was the NYC Library on 5th which was a nice place to warm up and use the computer. I noticed they have a self-guided history tour and took a pic of the amazing lobby area.
I had a bento box for dinner at midtown Café Zaiya before heading home. By the way, I discretely take these pictures with my phone so I don’t look like a tourist ha. Slick, I know.
